The More Things Change... [- John de Wit -]
It turns out that on-demand (software as a service) applications are no different than the ones we build/buy and install on premise; they fail to meet our insatiable appetite for more features and functions. In addition, we discover that being outside our firewall creates a unique problem with respect to integrating these solutions into our mainstream business processes. To date, we users are addressing this issue by moving lots of data (much of it never used) to and fro across the fire wall, hardly a 2007, Web 2.0 approach.
