Andrew Nash, Executive Chairman
Andrew Nash has a background rich in growing and transforming enterprise software and systems integration companies on a global basis over a period of over twenty years. Andrew is CEO of Novaroo, a privately held strategy and advisory services firm. Prior to Novaroo, Andrew served as Chief Operating Officer of BroadVision, where he led the turnaround of this publicly held software enterprise, restructuring and rebuilding the company on a global basis. Andrew previously served as Chairman and co-founder of Contentra and Chief Executive Officer of Collaborex, Inc. At Baan Company he served in multiple roles - Executive Vice President, Services (managing all services globally) and board member; President Baan Corporate Office Solutions and CEO, Coda. Prior to Baan, Andrew was a global managing partner and board of management member of Deloitte Consulting/ICS where he built and led the global Baan implementation practice and built and led the Asia Pacific SAP implementation practice. Andrew serves on the board of directors of ANZA Technology Network (not-for-profit) and the boards and advisory boards of multiple privately held technology companies.
Carter Griffin
Carter Griffin is a Principal at Updata Partners in the Reston, Virginia office and joined the firm in early 2005.
Prior to joining Updata Partners, Mr. Griffin co-founded Brivo Systems in 1999 and served as Chairman and CEO until selling the company to a unit of Duchossois Enterprises Group in December 2004. Brivo Systems pioneered the software-as-a-service model in the physical security market by introducing the first-ever on-demand system for facility access control. During his tenure at Brivo, Mr. Griffin raised over $30 million in multiple rounds of equity and debt financing from venture capitalists, strategic partners and angel investors.
Before starting Brivo Systems, Mr. Griffin spent four years as a senior vice president at Kaiser Associates, where he advised Fortune 500 clients on competitive positioning and new-market entry strategies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Griffin worked in London for the Coca-Cola Company and held positions at American Management Systems and Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Griffin holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA in finance and marketing from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Griffin serves on the board of Updata Partners portfolio company Nimaya and is a board observer for Appfluent and, CoreStreet.
Tim Meyers
Tim Meyers is a General Partner at Updata Partners who focuses on building and broadening the fund's private equity activity through early and growth-stage investment opportunities.
Prior to joining to Updata Venture Partners, Mr. Meyers served as President of The Morino Group, where he managed a $200 million portfolio, including direct investments, venture funds, hedge funds and direct equity investments. He oversaw a number of direct investments at TMG including Proxicom and Image Communications (bought by IXL). During his tenure, Mr. Meyers conceptualized and developed the 11600 Sunrise project, a 153,000 square foot Internet and technology incubator located in Reston, Virginia. From 1987-1993, he was CFO of The Brandon Company where he structured numerous deals with total transaction volume of over $250 million. Prior to joining The Brandon Company, Mr. Meyers was a CPA with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touché) where he was involved in structuring and evaluating transactions with firms such as KKR, RAMCO, and Spaulding & Evenflow.
Mr. Meyers earned a bachelor's degree in business from George Mason University and a master's degree from Virginia Tech University. He has been co-chair of the selection and program committees for the last several Mid-Atlantic Venture Association Fairs and is on the board of George Mason University Foundation, Greater DC Cares, and is the past chairman of Medical Care for Children's Partnership.
Mr. Meyers serves on the boards Updata Partners portfolio companies 4GL School Solutions and Appfluent.
Mr. Ashok Kumar is a founder and has been the SVP of Product Management since January 2006. He is responsible for all product management activities including product vision, product positioning and go-to-market strategy. Prior to taking over the Product Management role, Mr. Kumar lead the Nimaya services team that was responsible for implementing and supporting Nimaya products and services. Prior to Nimaya Mr. Kumar held consulting and management positions at Informix and MicroStrategy. Mr. Kumar holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Allegheny College and a masters degree from the College of William and Mary.
