Position: Technical Writer -- Job Code: TW_FFX

Position Summary:

Nimaya is seeking a Technical Writer to design and deliver information that helps customers use Nimaya products successfully. You will plan and produce documentation and online help that is accurate, useful, well written, and well organized. The Technical Writer is solely responsible for planning the documentation efforts for a particular product. The Technical Writer is a reviewer of all user-facing facets of the product, including tutorials and marketing materials.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identifies documentation needs for assigned projects and prepares documentation plans outlining deliverables. Updates the documentation plan over the course of the project.
  • Comprehends technology by observing production and use, interviewing engineers and designers, and studying detailed product specifications.
  • Produces user documentation and online help that is timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Verifies comprehension of technology and composition by testing descriptions and instructions.
  • Creates and maintains documentation style standards.
  • Reviews existing documentation, tutorials, wizards and product interfaces, messages, as well as marketing, sales, and Web site materials.
  • Completes projects by coordinating with agencies and typing and printing services.
  • Supports development of speeches, articles, and news releases by preparing technical descriptions.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Experience with desktop publishing and online Help Authoring Tools required; FrameMaker, Robohelp, Microsoft Word, Doc-To-Help, and HTML preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience writing task-oriented technical documentation and online help systems for a complex software product.
  • Experience planning and leading a major online help and documentation project from start to finish.
  • Understanding of computer technologies, such as client/server, SOA, Web services, database preferred.
  • Knowledge of system integration, CDI, MDM, warehousing, and/or Business Intelligence useful.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and work with software engineers to quickly grasp and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Usability training or experience, tools expertise, or usability process experience useful.  Participate in product design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or another writing-related or Information Systems/Computing-related subject.
